puclab – Pilot

Make an appointment for preliminary tests in our pilot plant.

We give you and your product as much time as needed. Together with your technicians/engineers, we determine the best possible configuration for your new PUC machine in our test lab and plan its integration into your process.

puclab – On-Site

Test a PUC mill in your plant or laboratory.

Talk to our technical support to define the requirements for your process and product. We then provide you with a suitable machine, free of charge, and offer support for your in-house trials.

puclab – Remote

Send us your raw materials for testing.

Based on your specifications and materials, we determine the best machine configuration for your end product in our technical centre. Using different grinder sets and settings, we can calculate within a few hours how your new PUC mill needs to be configured, without charge.

Typical End Products That Can Be Made from Soya Beans Using Probst & Class's Colloid Mills

Soya Milk: Using colloid mills, soya beans are crushed and processed into a fine paste. This paste can then be mixed with water in the colloid mill and subsequently pressed through a filter. The colloid mill produces a high-quality end product with a uniform consistency.

Tofu: Once the soya beans have been crushed and finely ground, the resulting soya mass contains less water (compared to soya milk production) and is then pressed. This mass can be further processed into tofu. Tofu is a vegan product with versatile uses in cooking.

Soya Protein Isolate: By crushing soya beans in a colloid mill and subsequently extracting the fibres and fats, soya protein isolate can be produced. This high-quality, purely plant-based protein is used in meat substitutes, baked goods and dietary supplements.

Soya Paste (Miso): Miso is a fermented soya paste popular in Korea, among other places. For miso production, soya beans are first cooked and then ground in colloid mills. The resulting paste is then mixed with fermented ingredients such as rice, barley, or other legumes and allowed to mature over a period.

Soy Sauce: Colloid mills can also be used in the production of soy sauce. Soya beans and wheat are ground and processed into a homogeneous paste in a colloid mill. This paste is then fermented and pressed to produce the soy sauce.

Machine Types Used

Colloid mills from Probst & Class can process all ingredients that have a minimal moisture content. Since soy milk and tofu always have a high water content, colloid mills are particularly suitable for these applications.

With an infinite number of adjustable grinding gaps and easy-to-clean grinding mechanisms, flexible use is always ensured. A variety of gear geometries also enables ingredient-specific conditions to be addressed to achieve the best possible results.

Our perforated disc mills additionally provide the option of pregrinding coarser raw materials and achieving greater fineness in combination with our colloid mills. We can achieve end product fineness below 50 micrometres.

We also offer in-line degassing systems for the extraction of air or other gases. This process is particularly relevant before packaging to achieve a clean environment and maintain the properties of the plant milk.

Production Processes

Processing and manufacturing can be carried out using Probst & Class mills and systems either in batch mode or in a continuous in-line process, depending on the requirements. We are happy to advise you as to the advantages and disadvantages of the processes as well as plant integration. Please feel free to request our puclab service.
